π Why the Change?
Microsoft understand the challenges admins face in identifying users who need Power Apps licenses. To address this, they introduced the License Auto-claim for Power Apps, allowing licenses to be automatically assigned when users access a premium Power App for the first time.
π€ What's New?
✅ Automatic Creation:
For tenants with managed environments, a new auto-claim policy named 'Auto-Created Policy for PowerApps' will be generated in the Microsoft 365 admin center.
✅ Default Application:
The policy will automatically apply when users launch Power Apps in managed environments. Admins can extend it to standard environments via the Power Platform admin center settings.
✅ Admin Control:
Global admins retain authority, managing the policy and viewing user assignments in the Microsoft 365 admin center. Power Platform admin center allows admins to decide policy application scope.
π ️ Admin-Friendly Features:
✅ Compatibility:
Existing auto-claim policies for Power Apps will continue to apply. No new policy will be created if one already exists.
✅ Workflow Integration:
Organizations with distinct license assignment processes can seamlessly incorporate the Auto-claim policy into their workflow.
✅ Review and Adjust:
Admins can review the list of users assigned licenses via the Auto-claim policy in the M365 admin center. Adjustments, such as unassigning licenses or moving users to designated groups, can be easily made.
π¦ Maintain Control, Reduce Workload:
With this update it will streamline your licensing procedures, giving admins more control and reducing the workload associated with license management.
